In 2019, our peaceful lifestyle shattered. Unrest swept through the country like a storm, unsettling the peace that I had held dear. The closure of my beloved Montessori school was the first blow, a place where laughter and learning once intertwined now stood silent, its halls echoing with memories.
Then, as if fate hadn't dealt enough, the world was grappled with an unseen adversary. Covid-19 cast its shadow over the globe, locking down nations and closing borders. For me, whose spirit thrived on exploration and discovery, the confinement was suffocating. Travel, once a joyous escape, became a distant dream even inside my island. Financial stability too slipped away.
With my school shuttered and travel restrictions strangling tourism, the lifeblood of many local businesses, I felt uncertainty. The garden and lands I tended with loving care offered solace but not sustenance. The rhythm of life I cherished was replaced by haunting silence.Over all this, fate dealt another heavy blow. In 2021, my husband, who was my pillar of strength, suffered a stroke and lost his job. Suddenly, my days were consumed with caring for my husband, a task that demanded my full attention and care.
Since I was not employed anymore, and the only work I was experienced in was teaching, I thought of teaching online just to keep the home fires burning.
